Biographies
JOSEPH H. GOSLING
Joseph H. Gosling has been actively
and successfully engaged in general law practice in Los Angeles during the past
twenty-two years. Born in Ottawa, Putnam
County, Ohio, on September 26, 1875, he was educated in the schools of that
village and on the 11th of June, 1903, was admitted to practice
before the Ohio Supreme Court. He had
been engaged in law practice in Ottawa for four years when in 1907 he was
elected county clerk of Putnam County, Ohio, thus serving for two terms. Subsequently he came with his family to Los
Angeles, California, where he was admitted to practice by the district court of
appeals on the 18th of September, 1911. Here he has since devoted his attention to
the work of his chosen profession and with the passing years his clientage has
steadily grown in volume and importance.
He maintains an office at 321 West Third Street, Los Angeles, and he has
membership in the county and state bar associations. Fraternally he is affiliated with the Elks,
being a life member and past exalted ruler of Santa Monica Lodge No. 906, B. P.
O. E.
On the 1st of June, 1904,
in Ottawa, Ohio, Mr. Gosling was united in marriage to Miss Elsa M. Kolhoff. Mrs.
Gosling is an active member of the Los Feliz Women’s Club and by her marriage
has become the mother of two children, a daughter and a son. The former, Grace Lenore, is a graduate of
the University of California, a member of the Phi Mu and a national officer of
Phi Beta. The son, Lynn Vernon, is a
graduate of Hollywood high school and the Southwestern University School of Law
in Los Angeles, and is a member of the Omega Sigma Sigma
fraternity. He was admitted to the bar
in 1932 and is now associated with his father in the practice of law.
