JOHN R. GIRLING
John R. Girling, associated with the well known Los Angeles law firm of O’Melveny, Tuller & Myers enjoys an enviable reputation as one of the outstanding representatives of the legal profession on the Pacific coast. He was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, July 23, 1891, a son of George W. and Elizabeth Girling. He acquired his early education in the public schools of his native city and continued his studies at Dartmouth College of Hanover, New Hampshire, while his professional training was received in the law department of the University of Colorado at Boulder, from which he was graduated with the LL.B. degree in 1914. The same year he was admitted to the Colorado bar at Colorado Springs, and in 1923, at Los Angeles, he was admitted to practice in California. He formerly served as assistant district attorney of the fourth judicial district in the state of Colorado. At this writing, as previously stated, he is associated with O’Melveny, Tuller & Myers of Los Angeles, which is the largest law firm on the Pacific coast, handling on an average over one hundred cases each month. He is in charge of all insurance matters for the firm and is widely recognized as a lawyer of unusual ability. He is a keen observer, possesses an analytical mind and a most retentive memory, and these qualities have featured strongly in his success.
Fraternally Mr. Girling is identified with the Masons, belonging to El Paso Lodge, No. 13, A.F. and A.M., and to Colorado Springs Chapter, No. 6, R.A.M. He is also a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity, the Southern California Alumni Association, the Los Angeles Athletic Club and the Los Angeles City Club.
