Biographies
JOHN D. FREDERICKS, JR.
John D. Fredericks, Jr., has gained
recognition as a learned, resourceful and successful young lawyer, and as a
member of the firm of Fredericks & Fredericks, of Los Angeles, he commands
a large and remunerative practice. He
was born in Los Angeles, California, September 7, 1900, a son of John D. and
Agnes M. (Blakeley) Fredericks. A review
of the career of his father may be found in another part of this publication.
John D. Fredericks, Jr.,
supplemented his public school education by a course of study at the Kiskiminetas Springs School of Saltsburg, Pennsylvania, and
received his professional training at Stanford University Law School in
California, from which institution he was graduated with the degree of Bachelor
of Laws in 1923. The same year he was
admitted to the bar and began his professional career with the firm of
Fredericks & Hanna, of which his father was senior member. A short time later he became a member of the firm,
which was known as Fredericks, Hanna & Morton. He enjoys an enviable reputation among his
colleagues and his name is on the membership rolls of the Los Angeles Bar
Association, the California State Bar Association and the American Bar
Association.
On the 10th of November,
1922, in San Francisco, Mr. Fredericks was united in marriage with Miss
Elizabeth Watt, daughter of William and Olive (Middleton) Watt. William Watt is a realtor, owning
considerable valuable property in Napa, California.
In his political views Mr.
Fredericks is a staunch Republican. He
is a veteran of the World War, having served for two years in the United States
Navy and being engaged in convoy duty between the United States and Europe during
the greater part of that time. He is a
member of the Phi Delta Phi law fraternity and Alpha Delta Phi college
fraternity and also enjoys deserved popularity among his fellow members of the
California Club, the Los Angeles Athletic Club and the Los Angeles Country
Club.
