EDWARD J.
FLEMING
The comprehensive experience gained through more than 30 years of active practice has made Edward J. Fleming, of Los Angeles, a thoroughly competent lawyer and counselor. He is a native of Massachusetts, and was born in 1872 at Cambridge. When three years of age he moved with his parents to California, and his early educational training was obtained in public schools of Los Angeles and Pomona. After graduating from Pomona College in 1892 he engaged in the study of law under the supervision of P. C. Tonner, of Pomona, and was admitted to the California bar in 1894.
Until 1897 Mr. Fleming practiced at Pomona in partnership with his former preceptor, under the firm name of Tonner & Fleming. He then practiced alone until 1901, serving as City Attorney for two years, and in 1902 located at Los Angeles. In 1908 he became a member of the firm of Hunsaker, Britt & Fleming and two years later the firm of Fleming & Bennett was organized. Since the dissolution of the latter partnership Mr. Fleming has practiced alone.
Mr. Fleming served as Deputy District Attorney of Los Angeles County from 1903 to 1907, and in 1907 and 1908 he was Prosecuting Attorney for the City of Los Angeles. He holds membership in the American Bar Association, State Bar of California and Los Angeles County Bar Association, as well as the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, Foreign Trade Association and Down Town Business Association. He is a Mason, and a member of the Knights of Pythias, Maccabees and Woodmen of the World, also the Jonathan Club, Optimist Club, Los Angeles Athletic Club and Westward Ho Country Club. In 1898 he married Gertrude Dennis.
