DAVID REED
FARIES
David R. Faries, senior member of the law firm of Faries & Williamson, of Los Angeles, represents many important interests, and is one of the best known of the younger members of the California bar. He was born in 1891 at Weihsien, Shantung, China, where his father had charge of the Presbyterian Hospital. He was educated in California, attending Occidental Academy, and later Occidental College, which conferred on him the A. B. degree in 1911. His legal training was obtained at the law school of the University of Southern California, and he was admitted to the California bar in 1913.
In 1914 Mr. Faries became Deputy Public Defender of Los Angeles County, and the following year was made Deputy County Counsel. In 1918 he resigned from the latter office to become General Counsel of the Automobile Club of Southern California, an organization with a membership of over 100,000 which has done much to improve highways and highway transportation throughout the southern portion of the state. In 1925 Mr. Faries organized the firm of Faries & Williamson, resigning as General Counsel of that organization.
Mr. Faries hold membership in the American Bar Association, State Bar of California, and Los Angeles County Bar Association, as well as the California Club, Sunset Club, and University Club. He is Vice President of the Los Angeles Traffic Commission, Executive Vice President and Counsel of the Major Highways Committee of the Traffic Commission, and Chairman of the Los Angeles County Grade Crossing Committee. In 1913 he married Helen Faye Fifield and they have two daughters, Anne Faye and Dorothy Helen.
