CLAYBURN C. ELDER
Clayburn C. Elder, well known
hydrographic engineer, has been connected with the Metropolitan Water
Department of Los Angeles during the past four years. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, June 13,
1895, a son of Henry B. and Alice (Fenton) Elder. The father, now deceased, was a Utah pioneer
who devoted his attention to the contracting business and also to the raising
of livestock. The mother is still
residing in Salt Lake City.
Clayburn C. Elder acquired his early
education in the grammar and high schools of the state of his nativity and
subsequently attended the University of Utah, from which institution he was
graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Engineering in 1916. Thereafter he spent eight years with the
United States Reclamation Service and next was connected with the Mexican
government in the department of water supply for two years. For a similar period, at the time of the
World War, he saw service in both France and Germany with the engineering corps
of the United States Army. During the
past four years, as stated above, Mr. Elder has been connected with the
Metropolitan Water Department of Los Angeles, doing most valuable and effective
work in the field of hydrographic engineering.
He is a member of the American Legion, American Society of Civil
Engineers, American Waterworks Association and
American Association of Engineers. He
gives his political allegiance to the Republican Party. A young man of many admirable personal
characteristics, he enjoys deserved popularity in both social and professional
circles of his adopted city.
