Clayburn C. Elder acquired his early education in the grammar and high schools of the state of his nativity and subsequently attended the University of Utah, from which institution he was graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Engineering in 1916.  Thereafter he spent eight years with the United States Reclamation Service and next was connected with the Mexican government in the department of water supply for two years.  For a similar period, at the time of the World War, he saw service in both France and Germany with the engineering corps of the United States Army.  During the past four years, as stated above, Mr. Elder has been connected with the Metropolitan Water Department of Los Angeles, doing most valuable and effective work in the field of hydrographic engineering.  He is a member of the American Legion, American Society of Civil Engineers, American Waterworks Association and American Association of Engineers.  He gives his political allegiance to the Republican Party.  A young man of many admirable personal characteristics, he enjoys deserved popularity in both social and professional circles of his adopted city.
