DOUGLAS
Donald Wills Douglas, president of Douglas Aircraft Company, Inc. was born in Brooklyn, New York, on April 6, 1892. The son of William Edward and Dorothy (Locker).
Attended the Trinity Chapel School at New York City, then a student at the United States Naval Academy from 1909 to 1912. In 1914 he graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with the degree of B.S.
Mr. Douglas was employed as chief engineer by the Glenn L. Martin Company, aircraft manufacturers, Los Angeles, California, from 1915 to 1916; chief civilian aeronautical engineer with the United States Signal Corps, 1916 to 1917; then again chief engineer for the Glenn L. Martin Company, Cleveland, Ohio, from 1917 to 1920. He was president of the Douglas Company, Santa Monica, California, from 1920 to 1928; president of Douglas Aircraft Company, manufacturers of airplanes, since 1928; and is also chairman of the board of same.
Director of the Farmers & Merchants Bank of Los Angeles; member of Delta Psi fraternitiy; belongs to the Episcopal Church; Republican; and is member of the Los Angeles Yacht Club.
Mr. Douglas married Charlotte Ogg on June 5, 1916, and they have five children: Donald Wills II, William Edward, Barbara Jean, James Sholto, and Malcolm Angus.
