JAMES E. DEGNAN

 

 

      It is characteristic of James E. Degnan, member of the firm of Lawler & Degnan, of Los Angeles, that he does with thoroughness anything he undertakes. With industry, alertness and determination as dominant characteristics he has made steady progress in his profession, and has attained a prominent place among members of the California bar.

      Mr. Degnan is a native of New Jersey, and was born in 1867 at Princeton. After receiving his preparatory educational training in public schools of his native city he studied law and was admitted to the bar in New Jersey and New York in 1902.

      In 1911 Mr. Degnan moved to Los Angeles, where he has since practiced. The firm of Lawler & Degnan, of which he is a member, is well known throughout the southwest, and is accorded an extensive clientele of an important character. They engage in general civil practice, and represent as Counsel many prominent corporations, including the Standard Oil Company of California, Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Co., Southern California Telephone Co., Pacific Indemnity Co., Farmers & Merchant National Bank, and others of like character.

      Mr. Degnan holds membership in the American Bar Association, State Bar of California, and Los Angeles County Bar Association and Los Angeles Athletic Club. In 1901 he married Dorothy Degnan. He is known for his interest and activity in affairs of importance to the public, and has many friends and acquaintances among his colleagues in all parts of the state.
