KENNETH A. DAVIS
Closely connected with the work of
the courts in Long Beach, Kenneth A. Davis is regarded as an able advocate and
a safe counselor and conducts his law business in the Farmers & Merchants
Bank Building at 320 Pine Street. He was
born in Salem, New Jersey, September 5, 1899, a son of John E. and Henrietta
(Guest) Davis, who were also natives of that state. The father, a retired pharmacist, is living
in Long Beach, but the mother is deceased.
Mr. and Mrs. John E. Davis were the parents of four children.
When a lad of
seven Kenneth A. Davis was brought to California by his parents who settled in
the Imperial Valley in 1906. They
were pioneers in the El Centro district, which the father aided in
developing. Following his graduation
from the high school at El Centro, Kenneth A. Davis attended the University of
California, receiving the Bachelor of Arts degree from that institution in
1923, and was next a student at the University of Southern California, which
conferred upon him the degree of Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1925, in which year
he was admitted to the bar of California.
For some years he was an influential factor in financial circles of Long
Beach as assistant trust officer of the Farmers & Merchants Bank. Since 1928 he has followed his profession in
this city, carefully preparing his cases, which are presented with clearness,
forcefulness and skill, and enjoys a remunerative practice, which is steadily
growing in volume as well as in importance.
In 1926 Mr. Davis was married in Los
Angeles, California, to Miss Jean Reeves, who is prominent in the social life
of Long Beach. Mr. Davis enjoys outdoor
sports and plays golf in his leisure hours.
At the time of the World War he enlisted in the United States Navy, with
which he served in France for a year, and was stationed at Base No. 19. He belongs to the American Legion and is past
commander of Post 1392, Veterans of Foreign Wars at Long Beach. His Masonic affiliations are with Service
Lodge, F. & A. M., the consistory and Sciots. He is a member of the Pi Kappa Phi and Delta
Theta Phi college fraternities, the Long Beach Bar Association and the California
State Bar Association. He gives to his
practice his undivided attention and is guided by high standards in the field
of professional service.
