JUSTIN
WHITLOCK DART
Justin Whitlock Dart, President of Rexall Drug Company, was born in Evanston, Illinois, on August 17, 1907. The son of Guy Justin and Laura (Whitlock.)
Received his preparatory education at Mercerburg Academy and Northwestern University, graduating from the latter in 1929 with the degree of A.B.
Mr. Dart started his business career in the drug business with the Walgreen Company, a drug store chain, at Chicago, in 1929; progressing steadily to positions of increasing responsibility he was successively in supervision department from 1930 to 1932, in general charge of the store operation from 1932 to 1939, general manager from 1939 to 1941; director from 1934 to 1941. Mr. Dart resigned from the Walgreen Drug Company in October, 1941, and in November of that year joined the Rexall Drug Company, being appointed director and vice president in April, 1942, and president since April, 1943. Also elected president of the Liggett Drug Company in 1942, and the Owl Drug Company in 1945, now consolidated as the Rexall Drug Company, Inc., Mr. Dart continuing as president of the parent company. He is director of the United Air Lines.
Mr. Dart is a Republican; member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity; belongs to the following clubs: Racquet and Tennis (New York); Rancheros Vistadores (Santa Barbara, California); University (Boston); California, Los Angeles, Bel-Air Country (Los Angeles, California);’ Chicago Athletic, and Hinsdale Golf.
He
married Ruth Walgreen on October 9, 1929; children: Justin Whitlock, Jr. And Peter Walgreen. He was divorced in 1939 and married (2d)
Jane O’Brien in December, 1939; children: Guy Michael and Jane.
