JOHN ANTHONY CRONIN

 

John Anthony Cronin is a popular young native son and prominent attorney of Los Angeles, where he has been actively engaged in general and civil practice during the past thirteen years, maintaining his offices at 453 South Spring street. He was born June 19, 1898, a son of Daniel and Mary (Hallisey) Cronin, both of whom were natives of Ireland, coming to Los Angeles, California, in the years 1883 and 1885, respectively. Daniel Cronin had been a resident of this city for forty-nine years when he passed away May 14, 1932, having for twelve years survived his wife, whose death occurred on June 20, 1920. Their family numbered three children, namely: John Anthony, of this review; Dr. Joseph M. Cronin; and Julie St. Pierre.

In the acquirement of an education John A. Cronin attended the Cathedral School of Los Angeles, St. Vincent’s School and Loyola University, being graduated from the last named institution with the A.B. degree in 1918. Two years later he completed the law course at the University of Southern California, which conferred upon him the degree of LL.B. in 1920. The same year he was admitted to the bar and began the general practice of law, in which he has since been successfully engaged together with civil practice. He is a member of the Los Angeles, California State and American Bar Associations.

Mr. Cronin and his wife, who was in her maidenhood Marguerite Forrest of Los Angeles, are the parents of a son, John Forrest, and reside at View Park. Mr. Cronin is a communicant of the Catholic Church and gives his political support to the democratic party. At the time of the World war he was a member of the Students Army Training Corps.
