DWIGHT L. CLARKE
Dwight L. Clarke, chairman advisory council, Occidental Life Insurance Company of Los Angeles, was born November 2, 1885, in Berkeley, California, son of James L. and Myrtie E. (Williams) Clarke. He received his preparatory education at the University of California.
Mr. Clarke stated his career in 1906 as clerk and assistant trust officer for the Union Trust Company at San Francisco, California, and continued with them until 1911. Assistant secretary for Savings Union Bank and Trust Company, 1911 to 1916; assistant manager and trust officer for Security Trust Company at Bakersfield, California, 1916 to 1922, becoming vice president and manager in 1927; vice president and manager of San Joaquin Valley Securities Company, 1923 to 1927; associated with the United Security Bank and Trust Company and successors, including Bank of America and National Trust and Savings Association, serving as vice president and manager of the Bakersfield Branch from 1927 to 1932 and as executive vice president of the Los Angeles Branch from 1932 to 1936. Executive vice president and director of Occidental Life Insurance Company, Los Angeles, California, from 1936 to 1943 and president of same from 1944 to the end of 1950, when in accordance with company’s retirement plan he retired, becoming chairman of its Advisory Council. Is director of: Allied Building Credits, Inc., Los Angeles, Citizens National Trust & Savings Bank, Los Angeles (also member of its Executive Comm.), Producers Cotton Oil Company, Fresno, California; Producers Cotton Oil Company of Arizona, Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Clarke was president of American Life Convention in 1947; secretary of California Rand; Silver, Inc., 1919-30.
Member of the following clubs: California and Zamorano (Los Angeles).
Mr. Clarke married Edna M. Wilcox on October 24, 1916, and they have one son, Edmund W.
