RICHARD
ADAMS CARRINGTON, JR.
Richard Adams Carrington, Jr., publisher of Los Angeles Examiner, was born July 11, 1889, in St. Paul, Minnesota; the son of Richard Adams and Emily (Crooks) Carrington.
He obtained his education in the public schools of Minnesota and St. Paul (Minnesota) Academy.
Mr. Carrington started in the newspaper business in 1909 as solicitor for the St. Paul (Minnesota) Pioneer Press and later was reporter for same; then successively advertising manager of the Anaconda Standard (Butte, Montana), reporter for the Kansas City (Missouri) Star, advertising manager for Duluth (Minnesota) News-Tribune, advertising director and general manager for the Omaha (Nebraska) Bee, advertising manager for the Oakland (California) Post-Enquirer, publisher of the Oakland (California) Post-Enquirer until 1938, and publisher of the Los Angeles Examiner since 1938. He is also vice president and director of Hearst Consolidated Publications and Hearst Publications, Inc.
Member of Sigma Delta Chi Fraternity and the following clubs: California Stock Exchange; Los Angeles Country; and Athenian-Nile (Oakland, California).
Mr. Carrington married Florence Louise Cooper on January 28, 1938, and they have one son, Richard Thomas. Their home is in Los Angeles, California, at 541 South Lucerne Boulevard.
