FRANK R. CARRELL

 

 

            Frank R. Carrell, municipal judge of Los Angeles, was admitted to the California bar about two decades ago.  He was born in Downey, Los Angeles County, California, February 2, 1889, his parents being Frank C. and Rosa Belle Carrell, who were among the early settlers of that section.

            In the acquirement of an education Frank R. Carrell attended the grammar and high schools of Gardena, Los Angeles County, and continued his studies in the College of Liberal Arts of the University of Southern California, from which he was graduated with the Bachelor of Arts degree in 1911.  He then entered the law department of the same institution, which in June, 1914, conferred upon him the degree of Doctor of Jurisprudence.  On the 12th of June, 1914, he was admitted to the California bar at Los Angeles.  Subsequently he was elected justice of the peace in the Gardena section and has been frequently called to sit on the municipal bench in Los Angeles, his record in this exacting and responsible position having gained for him marked prestige.  His administration of the municipal court is characterized by a high sense of fairness and justice, absolutely devoid of prejudice or favoritism.  The Judge was formerly identified with financial affairs as a director of and attorney for the Farmers & Merchants Bank of Gardena and is vice president of the Moneta Water Company.  His offices are in the Union League Building in Los Angeles.

            Judge Carrell is a member of the Republican county central committee and also a valued member of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce.  He belongs to the American Legion and fraternally is a Scottish Rite Mason and Shriner.  He likewise has membership in two Greek letter societies, Sigma Tau and Delta Theta Phi.  A lifelong resident of Los Angeles County, he is well known and highly esteemed throughout this section of the state and enjoys an enviable reputation in both professional and social circles here.
