MRS. ADELA F. BLAKE
Mrs. Adela F. Blake, a resident nurse of St. John’s Military Academy in Los Angeles, was born in Julian, San Diego county, California, June 22, 1872, a daughter of Joseph T. and Anna (Ortiz) Yancey. More extended mention of the family may be found on another page of this work in connection with the sketch of Mrs. Lula (Yancey) Juch, sister of Mrs. Blake.
On the 17th of October, 1894, in San Diego, Della Yancy became the wife of Wilbur Fremont Blake, who was born
in Vermont and reared in Wisconsin and who became an expert accountant in
Colorado and California. His father was a physician by profession. W. F. Blake
passed away in San Bernardino, California on October 14, 1912, leaving to mourn
their loss his widow and daughter, Harriet E., who is the wife of Dr. O.P. Goodall and resides in Bakersfield, California, with her
husband and their three sons, Jerome A., John P., and F. Joseph. It is worthy
of note that Mrs. Blake, her daughter, Mrs. Goodall,
and also the latter’s sons are all native Californians.
After completing her scholastic education, Mrs. Blake trained for nursing in the German Hospital in San Francisco and since her graduation has followed that profession.
