FRANK B. BELCHER

 

 

            Frank B. Belcher, attorney, was born in Carrollton, Missouri, on October 6, 1891; the son of George L. and Willie Alice (Beasley) Belcher.

            After graduating from Pomona (California) High School, he entered Stanford University, from which he received the A.B. degree in 1913; then took a postgraduate course at the University of Southern California Law School, 1913-14, and was admitted to the California State Bar on January 21, 1914.

            Mr. Belcher started law practice in association with the firm of Jennings & Horton in Los Angeles, California.  After Mr. Horton’s death in 1915 he continued with Mr. Jennings until 1919, at which time the firm of Jennings and Belcher was established and he became a partner in the firm.

            During the First World War, Mr. Belcher served with the United States Army, 1917 to 1919.  One year of his service was spent in France.  He was honorably discharged as major.

            He holds membership in the State Bar of California (president, 1942-43), American Bar Association and Los Angeles Bar Association (president, 1938-39); Theta Delta Chi fraternity (college); F. and A. M. Scottish Rite Shrine (master of Wilshire Lodge No. 445 in 1928); and member of the following clubs:  Wilshire Country, California Country, and California.  He finds recreation in aviation and equitation.

            Mr. Belcher married Ruth R. Belcher in 1917 and they have three children:  Dorothy Jane, born in 1920; Frank B., born in 1922; and Nancy Mae, born in 1926.  The family home is at 163 South Plymouth Boulevard, Los Angeles, California.
