CLARENCE S. BEESEMYER

 

 

            Clarence S. Beesemyer, executive vice president of General Petroleum Corporation, was born in Hollywood, California, December 15, 1891; the son of William and Mary Sophia (Gallwas) Beesemyer.  He graduated from Hollywood (California) High School in 1911.

            Mr. Beesemyer began his career in 1912 as a bookkeeper in the sales department of A. F. Gilmore Company, then vice president and director of the company from 1918 to 1922; successively vice president and general manager and director and president of Gilmore Oil Company, 1923 to 1945; president of the Gilmore Asphalt and Road Oil Company from 1945 to 1946.  In 1945 he became executive vice president of General Petroleum Corporation, which position he still holds.  He was chairman of the Distribution and Marketing Committee, and a member of the General Committee, District 5, PAW, during World War II.

            Member of Los Angeles Sales Managers Association (past vice president), Los Angeles Foreign Trade Association (past president), American Petroleum Institute, Petroleum Industry War Council, Western Oil and Gas Association.  Chairmen, Los Angeles Chapter, American National Red Cross (195-51).

            Member of Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce (president and director, 1947; treasurer ad director, 1948).  Republican, Mason (Shriner).  Member of the following clubs:  California, University, Jonathan (Los Angeles);Annandale (Pasadena); Flintridge Riding (past president) (Pasadena, California); and Tuna (Catalina, California).

            Mr. Beesemyer married Phyllis Mae Richardson on April 23, 1915, and they have two children:  Jay C. and Dona (Mrs. Richard W. Marsellus).
