NORMAN A.
BAILIE.
A self-made man in the truest sense of the phrase, Norman A. Bailie, senior member of the successful law firm of Bailie, Turner & Lake, of Los Angeles, has become one of the most prominent members of the bar in that city. He is native of Canada, and was born in 1877. He received his preparatory educational training in public schools, then continued with private study for the profession of teaching. While teaching in the San Bernardino High School he engaged in the study of law without outside guidance, and was admitted to the California bar in 1905.
For about two years Mr. Bailie continued teaching and he then moved to Los Angeles and engaged in the general practice of law. In 1916 he entered into partnership with William A. Bowen under the firm name of Bowen & Bailie. This association was dissolved in 1919 and he then practiced alone until 1924, when the present firm of Bailie, Turner & Lake was organized.
Although he engages in general civil practice Mr. Bailie specializes in corporation, surety, bankruptcy, and probate law, in which branches of his profession he is splendidly equipped. He is accorded a large clientele, a portion of his practice consisting of work along bankruptcy lines for other lawyers, by whom he is frequently called into consultation.
Mr. Bailie holds membership in the American Bar Association, State Bar of California and the Los Angeles County Bar Association, of which he is a member of the Board of Trustees, as well as the Jonathan Club, and Los Angeles Country Club. In 1900 he married Charlotte Farner and they have two daughters, Margaret, now Mrs. Harrison McNear Leppo, and Dorothy.
