EUGENE (GENE) LESLIE AHERN
Eugene (Gene) Leslie Ahern, cartoonist, was born September 16, 1895, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Eugene William and Mary (Kelly) Ahern.
He obtained his education in the public grade and high schools of Chicago, Illinois, and at Chicago Art Institute.
Mr. Ahern was cartoonist for the News Enterprise Association at Cleveland, Ohio, from 1914 to 1936; cartoonist for King Features Syndicate, Inc., at New York City since 1936. He is the creator of “Room and Board”.
Mr. Ahern married Jane Susan Lynn on February 17, 1917; children: Eugene (deceased) and Nancy Anne.
Member of the Los Angeles Art Association, Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, Bel-Air Bay Club, and National Cartoonists Society.
