GEORGE RUSSELL KIRK

 

 

            George Russell Kirk is a rising young representative of the legal profession in Imperial county, practicing at Calexico, where he holds the office of city attorney. He was born at Kahoka, Missouri, July 31, 1901, his parents being William and Sadie (Russell) Kirk, the former a native of Illinois and the latter of Missouri. William Kirk, who devoted his attention to farming pursuits throughout his active career, is now living retired in Bell, California. He and his wife have two sons: George Russell, of this review; and Dean a realtor of Bell, California.

            George R. Kirk prepared for law practice at the University of Kansas, from which institution he was graduated with the degree of LL. B. in 1926. As a college student he became a member of Delta Chi and Delta Theta Phi. He was admitted to the Kansas bar in 1927 but later in the same year came to the Golden state and was admitted to the bar of California. Following a brief period of practice in Los Angeles, Mr. Kirk in 1928 came to the Imperial Valley and has since engaged in the work of his chosen profession at Calexico, where he is accorded a gratifying clientele. He has also been chosen city attorney and is making a most creditable record in office.

            In 1926 Mr. Kirk was united in marriage to Miss Fern Clarke, daughter of Frank B. and Anna Clarke, pioneers of Kentucky. Mr. and Mrs. Kirk are the parents of a daughter, Frances Lee, who is two years of age. The mother is active in church and social circles of her community. Mr. Kirk is a member of the board of trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church, is also serving on its finance committee and is active in Sunday school work. He has membership in the Rotary Club and is numbered among the representative and popular young citizens of the city and state of his adoption.
