DAVID ROY KINCAID
David Roy
Kincaid is an active and successful representative of business interests in
Imperial county as president of the Calexico Lumber
Company, which he organized in 1915. He
was born in Menard county, Illinois, November 6, 1881,
his parents being Joseph Howe and Mary (Short) Kincaid, who were native of the
same county and are now deceased. Joseph
Howe Kincaid was an agriculturist by occupation and a Presbyterian in religious
faith. To him and his wife were born
five children, two of whom survive.

Kincaid was brought to California in 1887, as
a little lad about six years, and acquired his education in the grammar and
high schools of National City, San Diego County.
For a period of eleven years he was actively engaged in irrigation work
of a very important character in the Imperial Valley
as a member of the engineering department of the parent company, and
subsequently he turned his attention to the lumber business. It was in 1915 that he established the Calexico
Lumber Company, of which he has remained at the head to the present time,
developing an enterprise of very extensive and profitable proportions. He is widely recognized as a man of marked
executive ability and sound judgment in business affairs and well deserves the
prosperity which has attended his undertakings.
In 1912 Mr.
Kincaid was united in marriage to Della Barnes, of Los Angeles, California,
daughter of Joseph and Rosalie (Metcalf) Barnes. They are the parents of three children,
namely: Roy Joseph, born in July, 1913,
who is attending the University of California, Los Angeles; Barbara Lucile,
born September, 1917, is a high school student; and Mary Rosalie, born in
October, 1924, who is also in school.
Mrs. Kincaid is helpfully interested in club and social activities of
her community and is the treasurer of the Women’s Improvement Club. Mr. Kincaid is affiliated fraternally with
the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and with Calexico Lodge, No. 412,
F. & A. M., at Calexico, while his religious faith is indicated by his
support of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
He is also a member of the Rotary Club and ranks with the representative
and highly respected citizens of Calexico and the county.
