JOHN EDWARD O’NEILL

 

 

            John Edward O’Neill, president and director of J. E. O’Neill, Inc., was born in Pendleton, Ontario, Canada, October 7, 1893; the son of Andrew and Catherine (Brownrigg) O’Neill.

            He received his education in the public schools on Ontario, Canada.  Came to the United States in 1915 and was naturalized in 1941.

            Mr. O’Neill has been president and director of J. E. O’Neill, Inc., Fresno, California, since 1945.  Also vice president and director of Producers Cotton Oil Company, Fresno; vice president and director of Farmers Market of Fresno; president and director of O’Neill Farms, Inc., Huron, California; vice president and director of A. M. O’Neill & Sons, Inc., Huron, California; vice president of Sierra Properties Company, Fresno; and vice president of John Richard, Inc., Fresno, California.

            Mr. O’Neill is a member of the Board of Directors of California State Automobile Association and was president of same, 1945 to 1946.  He was elected to the American Automobile Association National Board of Directors in 1941 and member of executive committee in 1947; then member of Highway Committee in 1947 and 1948, also serving on the resolutions committee and later chairman of traffic safety committee; now the 18th president of A.A.A.

            Member of California Society for Crippled Children, Inc. (director and president); Fresno County Society for Crippled Children, Inc. (director); 21st District Agriculture Society (director and vice president); State Agriculture Society (director); University-Sequoia Club of Fresno and Fresno Rotary Club.

            Mr. O’Neill married Mary Hughina Brunet (deceased) January 10, 1918; children:  Virginia Patricia, John Edward and Dennis Hugh.  On July 4, 1932, he married (2d) Paloma Cathana Randleman; children:  Margaret Catherine and Edwin Randle.
