ERNEST G. SCHEIBER
Ernest
G. Scheiber, one of El Dorado county’s enterprising
and progressive business men, is conducting an up-to-date general merchandise
store at El Dorado and is meeting with well merited success. He was born in Diamond Springs, El Dorado
County, on the 24th of September, 1906, and is a son of L. J. and
Bertha (Schneider) Scheiber, who are referred to in a separate sketch on other
pages of this work. Mr. Scheiber
attended the public schools at Diamond Springs, the high school at Placerville
and Heald’s Business College, from which institution he graduated in 1929. He had striven hard to secure an education,
working during the summers as a timekeeper and bookkeeper in the logging camps
and attending school during the winters.
On January 1, 1930, there came to him the opportunity of buying his
present business, and he wisely took advantage of it. He carries a well selected stock of such
lines as are demanded by the local trade and, with the able assistance of his
wife, has built up a business which reflects very creditably on his judgment
and methods. He is also filling the
position of assistant postmaster. Mr.
Scheiber was united in marriage November 30, 1929, to Miss Alice Niven, who is a native of Oregon and is proving a true
helpmate to her husband. Mr. Scheiber is
a Democrat in his political views, while, fraternally, he is a member of the
Free and Accepted Masons at El Dorado, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and
he and his wife belong to the Order of the Eastern Star. Mr. Scheiber is fond of outdoor sports,
particularly of gold and baseball, and, socially he and his wife are popular in
the circles in which they move.
