DELLA PATTERSON

Della Patterson, who is the present treasurer of El Dorado County, and a candidate for re-election, has made a most acceptable record in public service, and her conduct of the responsible duties assigned to her has meet with the favor of the residents of this county.  Miss Patterson was born in Placerville, El Dorado County, California, October 26, 1883, a daughter of Robert and Mary (Wilkinson) Patterson.  Her father was a native of Nova Scotia, Canada, and came with his older brother to Sierra County, California, in 1867.  He married at Table Rock, then in 1880 came to New Town, El Dorado County, and followed mining, later becoming a rancher.  He died in 1918.  His wife, a native of England, came to California as a girl of eight years.  Her maternal grandfather had settled in Sierra County and in 1881 came to El Dorado County, where he bought a farm, and there died in 1914.  Mrs. Patterson, the mother of Della Patterson, is yet living.

Miss Patterson was educated in the grade and high schools of Placerville.  Her first public position was that of deputy county clerk under Don Goodrich, after which she served four years under Arthur N. Davis.  In 1926 she was elected to the office of treasurer of El Dorado County, and is now a candidate for re-election.  She is a Republican and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.  Her father was prominent in the Masonic fraternity during his life, and was considered one of the best posted Masons in California.
