DELLA PATTERSON
Della
Patterson, who is the present treasurer of El Dorado County, and a candidate
for re-election, has made a most acceptable record in public service, and her
conduct of the responsible duties assigned to her has meet with the favor of
the residents of this county. Miss
Patterson was born in Placerville, El Dorado County, California, October 26,
1883, a daughter of Robert and Mary (Wilkinson) Patterson. Her father was a native of Nova Scotia, Canada,
and came with his older brother to Sierra County, California, in 1867. He married at Table Rock, then in 1880 came
to New Town, El Dorado County, and followed mining, later becoming a rancher. He died in 1918. His wife, a native of England, came to
California as a girl of eight years. Her
maternal grandfather had settled in Sierra County and in 1881 came to El Dorado
County, where he bought a farm, and there died in 1914. Mrs. Patterson, the mother of Della
Patterson, is yet living.
Miss
Patterson was educated in the grade and high schools of Placerville. Her first public position was that of deputy
county clerk under Don Goodrich, after which she served four years under Arthur
N. Davis. In 1926 she was elected to the
office of treasurer of El Dorado County, and is now a candidate for
re-election. She is a Republican and a
member of the Order of Eastern Star. Her
father was prominent in the Masonic fraternity during his life, and was
considered one of the best posted Masons in California.
