HENRY S. LYON
In
the office of district attorney for El Dorado County, in which he is now
serving his first term, Henry S. Lyon has made an outstanding record as a
fearless and most able incumbent for this responsible position. No question has ever risen about his
integrity; his conduct of legal affairs has been clean and decisive; and he has
enhanced his personal popularity by his fair dealing and the absence of favoritism
in his administration.
Henry
S. Lyon was born at Smithflat, El Dorado county, California, September 25, 1893, a son of Arthur S.
and Jessie (Cole) Lyon. Arthur S. Lyon,
who is now engaged in farming, is also a native of California, his father
having been a pioneer of El Dorado County.
Arthur S. Lyon served as superintendent of the Lake Tahoe road under the
administration of Governor Pardee and Governor
Gillette. His wife, who was also
descended from a pioneer family, is now deceased.
Henry
S. Lyon attended the grade schools and high school of Placerville, graduating
from the latter in 1913. He then took up
the study of law at the Hastings Law School in San Francisco, and on the 7th
of March, 1922, was admitted to the bar in California. He has practiced at Placerville since that
time, and has served a term, expiring January 1, 1931, as district
attorney. Mr. Lyon is a veteran of the
World war, having been a member of the field artillery, and served in
France. He is an active worker in
Republican Party ranks, and he is a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles (of
which he is president), Placerville Parlor, No. 9, Native Sons of the Golden West (past
president), the Lions Club, the Chamber of Commerce, the Rod and Gun Club, and
the American Legion. Outdoor life,
preferably hunting, is Mr. Lyon’s favorite diversion.
Mr.
Lyon was married to Miss Alice Bryson, a native daughter, and they are the
parents of the following children: Mary
Elizabeth, Jessie June, and Evelyn.
