“AN OLD MAN FATALLY INJURED”

(Galt Gazette)

Mr. Dillard of Hicksville, aged 71 years while driving from Galt to his home in a four-horse farm wagon. last Saturday, and accidentally fell from the elevated seat to the ground, alighting on his head. The old gentleman received serious injuries to his head and spine, and a severe shock to his nervous system. His condition is precarious and it is feared that his injuries will prove fatal.

CAUSES SON’S ARREST

J. C. Dillard was arrested today and released on $1000 bail for not supporting his aged mother, Mrs. Dora Dillard. Warrants are out for the arrest of two other sons, Fred and George W. Windrick, on the same charge.

Mrs. Dillard complained to the District Attorney that she is getting old and her sons refuse to support her.

Peter A. Bouchet, for many years a resident of Merced and vicinity, died at Fresno Tuesday after an illness of sesveral months from ailments due to old age. The deceased was a native of France and was aged 60 years and 8 months.

He had resided in California for over forty years, during the greater portion of which time he was engaged in farming and well-boring in Merced county. He was an up-right and honorable man of genial disposition and was respected and esteemed by a large circle of friends and acquaintances.  He leaves three daughters and one son---Mrs Pearl Gristy of Fresno, Mrs Alta Dillard of Merced,, Miss Bernice Bouchet of Glen Ellen, and Elmer Bouchet of Merced. The remains were brought to this city and the funeral was held at 10 o’clock Thursday morning from the residence of Mrs Dillard at 21 Twentieth street, the service being conducted by Rev. J.A. Wailes. Interment was made in the Odd Fellows cemetery.
