GOVERNOR
GEORGE C. PARDEE (Republican), was born at San
Francisco, July 25, 1857; educated in the public and private schools, one of
the first being the Old City College of San Francisco; later, when the family
removed to Oakland, he attended the College School in that city; and afterward
the Oakland High School; entered the University of California in 1875 and
graduated in 1879; then spent two years in the Cooper Medical College; went to
Europe and took a four year course in the University of Leipsic;
returned to California in 1885, and commenced practice in his specialty as
oculist and aurist; was member of the City Board of
Health of Oakland 1889-91; member of the City Council of Oakland 1891-93; Mayor
of the City of Oakland 1893-95; Regent of the University of California
1899-1903; elected Governor, November 4, 1902.
LIEUTENANT-GOVERNOR
ALDEN ANDERSON (Republican), was born at Meadville,
Pennsylvania, October 11, 1867, while his parents were on a visit to their old
home; the family returned to California and located at San Jose; educated in
the public schools of San Jose and the University of the Pacific in 1884;
removed to Suisun and engaged in the fruit business; elected to the State
Assembly from the Nineteenth Assembly District in 1896; re-elected in 1898 and
in 1900; served in the Thirty-second, Thirty-third, and Thirty-fourth State
Assemblies; was Speaker of the Thirty-third assembly, 1899; elected President
of the State League of Republican Clubs at Los Angeles in 1900; re-elected at
San Jose in 1902; elected Lieutenant-Governor November 4, 1902.
SECRETARY-OF-STATE
CHARLES FORREST CURRY (Republican) was born at
Naperville, Du Page County, Illinois, March 14,1858, but resided at Mineral
Point, Wisconsin, from infancy until 1875, in which year, with his parents, he
removed to California, and locating in San Francisco. He was elected Member of
the Assembly from the Thirty-sixth District in 1886; appointed Superintendent
of Station "B," Post Office, in San Francisco, July 1, 1890; elected
County Clerk of San Francisco in 1894; elected Secretary of State in 1898;
re-elected November 4, 1902.
CONTROLLER
EDWARD P. COLGAN. (Republican) was born at Santa Rosa,
California, January 10, 1856, where he was educated in the public schools; he
learned the trade of black-smithing and followed that
occupation for thirteen years; was elected Sheriff of Sonoma County in 1886 and
re-elected in 1888; elected State Controller in 1890; re-elected 1894, 1898,
and 1902.
TREASURER
TRUMAN REEVES (Republican) was born at Chardon, Ohio,
August 17, 1840; attended district schools; was apprenticed at the watchmaking trade, which he followed until the beginning of
the Civil War in 1861; enlisted at the first call for three months' volunteers,
and at the expiration of that term of enlistment, entered the service for three
years; in 1864 re-enlisted for three years or during the war; lost his left arm
in the battle of Cold Harbor in 1865; was appointed Postmaster at Orwell, Ohio
in 1865; elected Recorder of Ashtabula County, Ohio in 1868, serving in that
capacity six years; arrived in California in 1875 and engaged in the jewelry
business; was member of the Twenty-fifth and Twenty-sixth Assemblies,
representing the County of San Bernardino; appointed by the United States
Census Bureau to take the recorded indebtedness of the Seventh Congressional
District of California, in 1890; Treasurer of San Bernardino County, 1891-99;
elected State Treasurer in 1898; re-elected November 4, 1902.
ATTORNEY GENERAL
U. S. WEBB. (Republican) Was born at Flemington, West
Virginia, September 29, 1864; removed with his parents to Kansas in 1870; came
to California in June 1888 and engaged in the practice of law in 1889 at
Quincy, Plumas County; elected District Attorney of that county in 1890;
re-elected 1892, 1896, and 1900; resigned as District Attorney in September,
1902, and was appointed Attorney-General, September 15, 1902; elected November
4, 1902.
SURVEYOR-GENERAL
VICTOR H. WOODS (Republican) was born at Sigourney,
Iowa, February 13, 1868; came to California when a boy and received his
preliminary education in the public schools of San Francisco; afterward
completed his education in the University of the Pacific; is by profession a
surveyor; served two terms as County Surveyor of San Luis Obispo County;
elected Surveyor-General November 4, 1902.
CLERK OF SUPREME COURT
FRANK C. JORDAN (Republican) was born near Redding,
Shasta County, California April, 3, 1860; removed with his parents to Pescadero, in 1862, and to Oakland in 1868, where he has
since resided; received a public school education; followed the occupation of
bookkeeper, law clerk, and printer; elected County Clerk of Alameda County in 1894, and re-elected 1898; elected Clerk of the
Supreme Court November 4,1902.
SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC INSTRUCTION
THOMAS J. KIRK (Republican) was born near Richmond,
Ray County, Missouri; September 9, 1852; resided on a farm near North Salem,
Linn County, Missouri, until 1870; educated at the State Normal School of
Missouri; for three years was a teacher in Knox County, Missouri; came to
California in March 1873; and for two years was a teacher in Colusa County;
removed to Fresno County in 1875; elected County Superintendent of Schools in Fresno
County in 1890; re-elected 1894; elected State Superintendent of Public
Instruction in 1898; re-elected November 4, 1902.
SUPERINTENDENT OF STATE PRINTING
WILLIAM W. SHANNON. (Republican) was born at San
Francisco May 30, 1858; educated in the public schools of that city; graduated
from the Lincoln School in 1872; entered his father's printing office and
learned the trade of printing, which occupation he subsequently followed;
elected Superintendent of State Printing, November 4, 1902.
JUDICIAL DEPARTMENT
CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE SUPREME COURT
WILLIAM H. BEATTY (Republican) was born at Monclova,
Lucas County, Ohio, February 18, 1838, removed to Kentucky, from thence to
California in March 1853; educated in the common schools of Kentucky and
California and in the University of Virginia; admitted to the bar in California
in January, 1861; Judge of the District Court and of the Supreme Court of
Nevada State, 1864-81; elected Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of California
in 1888; re-elected in 1890 and November 4, 1902.
ASSOCIATE JUSTICES OF THE SUPREME COURT
THOMAS BARD McFARLAND
(Republican) was born at Mercersberg, Pennsylvania; educated at Marshall
College, Mercersberg; admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania; arrived in
California in September, 1850, and engaged in law practice at Nevada City and
later at Sacramento; Member of the State Assembly in 1856; District Judge in
Nevada and Placer counties, 1862-70; Register of the United States Land Office
at Sacramento; member of the Board of Education of Sacramento City; Judge of
the Superior Court of Sacramento County, 1882-86; elected Associate Justice of
the Supreme Court in 1886; re-elected in 1898.
FREDERICK W. HENSHAW (Republican) was born in
Illinois, May 24, 1858; arrived in California in 1873; graduated from the
University of California in 1879; admitted to practice law in 1880; elected
Justice of the Peace in the City of Oakland; elected Judge of the Superior
Court of Alameda County in 1890; resigned December 8, 1894; elected Associate
Judge of the Supreme Court in 1894.
WALTER VAN DYKE (Silver Republican) was born in Tyre, Seneca County, New York, October 3, 1823; educated in
the public schools and Liberal Institute in Clinton, Oneida County, New York; was
admitted to practice law at Cleveland, Ohio in August 1848; arrived in
California in December 1849, and engaged in the practice of law; in 1851 was
the District Attorney of Klamath County; in 1853 was elected Member of the
Assembly from Klamath County; Commissioner to adjust the debt between Humboldt
and Trinity counties; in 1854, elected District Attorney of Humboldt County; in
1861 was elected State Senator to represent Humboldt, Klamath, and Del Norte
counties; appointed United States Attorney in 1874 by President Grant; elected
member of Constitutional Convention in 1878; elected Judge of Superior Court of
Los Angeles County in 1888; re-elected in 1894; elected Associate Justice of
the Supreme Court in 1898.
LUCIEN SHAW. (Republican) was born near Vevay, Indiana March 1, 1845; educated in the common
schools and the Indianapolis Law College; admitted to practice law in Indiana
in 1869 and in California January 1884; came to California in 1883; engaged in
the practice of law in Fresno County and removed to Los Angeles in 1886;
appointed Judge of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County, March, 1889;
elected in 1890; re-elected in 1896; elected Associate Justice of the Supreme
Court, November 4, 1902.
FRANK M. ANGELLOTTI. (Republican) was born at San Rafael,
California in 1861; educated in the public schools of California and Hastings
College of the Law in San Francisco; admitted to
practice law in 1882; practiced law in San Rafael; was elected District
Attorney of Marin County in 1885 and served for three terms; was elected Judge
of the Superior Court of Marin County in 1890 and served two terms; elected
Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, November 4, 1902.
WILLIAM G. LORIGAN (Republican) was born at Melbourne,
Australia, February 12, 1855; came to California in 1860; educated at Santa
Clara College, California and St. Vincent's College of Cape Girardeau,
Missouri; admitted to practice law in California; was elected Judge of the
Superior Court of Santa Clara County in 1890; re-elected 1896 and in 1902;
resigned as Superior Judge of Santa Clara County, and was appointed Associate
Justice of the Supreme Court, January 5, 1903 to fill the unexpired term of
Hon. Jackson Temple, deceased.
RAILROAD COMMISSIONERS
ADAM ANDREW (Republican) was born at Charlottetown,
Prince Edward Island, Canada, April 22, 1858; educated in Canada, came to
California in 1876, and located in Sacramento; removed to San Francisco in
1893; member of the Board of Trustees of the Preston School of Industry,
1893-95; elected Railroad Commissioner from the First District, November 4,
1902.
A. C. IRWIN (Republican) was born at Montreal, Canada
October 8, 1848; resided at Toronto, Canada, until 1866, and resided in
Wyoming, Nebraska, Utah and Nevada until 1869 when he came to California; was
for eight years School Commissioner of Marysville; two years Councilman of
Marysville; ten years member of the Board of Supervisors of Yuba County;
elected Railroad Commissioner from the Second District November 4, 1902.
ORRIN S. HENDERSON (Republican) was born at San
Andreas, Calaveras County, California, June 2, 1853; removed to Stockton in
1865; and has resided there ever since; educated in the public schools and the
High School of Stockton; elected Member of Board of Supervisors of San Joaquin
County in 1894; re-elected in 1898; officiated as Chairman of the Board both
terms; elected Railroad Commissioner from the Third District, November 4, 1902.
STATE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
WILLIAM H. ALFORD (Democrat) was born in Bowie County,
Texas, September 14, 1866; came to California in 1868; educated in the schools
of California; admitted to practice law in California; Member of the Assembly
from Tulare County in 1893; Chairman of the Democratic State Central Committee
from 1896 to 1898; Assistant District Attorney of San Francisco from 1900-1903;
elected Member of the State Board of Equalization from the First district;
November 4, 1902.
ALEXANDER BROWN (Republican) was born at Vergennes,
Addison County, Vermont, August 28, 1853; educated in the public schools at
Middlebury, Addison County, Vermont; came to California in 1873, locating in
San Joaquin County, afterward removing to Calaveras County; elected Member of
the Assembly from Calaveras County in 1890; elected Member of the State Board
of Equalization from the Second District in 1898, serving as Chairman of the
Board; re-elected November 4, 1902 and again elected Chairman of the Board.
RICHARD H. BEAMER (Democrat) was born near Hamilton,
Caldwell County, Missouri, July 29, 1849; resided near Mooresville, Missouri,
until 1854, when he crossed the plains by the ox-team route with his parents;
locating at Woodland, California; was educated in the public schools with the
exception of a partial course at the old Hesperian College and one year in the
Kentucky University; elected to the following offices in Yolo County: Auditor,
Assessor, Sheriff, and Tax Collector; elected Member of the State Board
of Equalization from the Third District in 1890; re-elected in 1894; re-elected
in 1898; re-elected November 4, 1902.
FRANK MATTISON (Republican) was born near Santa Cruz,
California, February 5, 1860; educated in the common schools of Santa Cruz
County, which was supplemented by advanced studies under private instructor;
elected Assessor of Santa Cruz County in 1890; re-elected in 1894 and in 1898;
appointed Trustee of the Monterey Custom House in 1902; elected Member of State
Board of Equalization from the Fourth District, November 4, 1902.
UNITED STATES SENATORS
GEORGE CLEMENT PERKINS
(Republican) was born at Kennebunkport, Maine, in 1839; reared on a farm with
limited educational advantages; went to sea and arrived in California in 1855;
engaged in mercantile business in Oroville; subsequently engaged in
banking, milling, mining, and the steamship business, in which latter vocation
he is now engaged; in 1869 was elected to the State Senate, representing Butte
County; elected in 1872 to represent Butte, Lassen and Plumas counties to fill
the unexpired term of David Boucher, deceased; in 1879 was elected Governor of
the State; in 1893 was appointed by Governor H. H. Markham United States
Senator, vice Hon. Leland Stanford, deceased;
in 1895 was elected United States Senator to fill the unexpired term of
the late Hon. Leland Stanford; elected to full term in 1897; re-elected in
1903.
THOMAS ROBERT BARD
(Republican) Was born in Chambersburg,
Pennsylvania, December 8, 1841; received a common school education, and
graduated at the Chambersburg Academy in 1858; came to California in 1864,
locating in Ventura County; elected Presidential Elector in 1892; elected
United States Senator in 1900.

(Republican) was born in Viroqua, Wisconsin, September 20, 1860; received a
high school education in Wisconsin; admitted to practice law in Wisconsin in
1881; came to California in 1884, locating in Eureka, Humboldt County; was
appointed City Attorney of Eureka in 1888 and held the office for six years; elected
to the State Senate in 1896; elected Member of Congress from the First
District, November 4, 1902.
THEODORE A. BELL
(Democrat) was born at Vallejo, California, July 25, 1872; removed to St.
Helena, Napa County, in 1878; was educated in the common schools of California;
admitted to practice law 1893; elected District Attorney of Napa County in
1894; re-elected in 1898; elected Member of Congress from the Second District
November 4, 1902.
VICTOR HOWARD METCALF
(Republican) was born at Utica, New York, October 10, 1853; graduated from the
Utica Free Academy; also from Russell's Military Academy of New Haven,
Connecticut
graduated from the Yale Law School in 1876; was
admitted to practice law in Connecticut in 1876 and in New York in 1877; came
to California in 1879; located at Oakland; elected Member of Congress from the
Third District in 1898; re-elected in 1900; re-elected November 4, 1902.
EDWARD J. LIVERNASH
(Union Labor and Democrat) was born in lower Calveritas,
a California mining camp, February 14, 1866; was educated in the common schools
of California; became a printer at fifteen and started a country newspaper; was
admitted to practice law at the age of twenty-one; joined the editorial staff
of the San Francisco Examiner; elected Member of Congress from the Fourth
District, November 4, 1902.
WILLIAM JOSEPH WYNN
(Union Labor and Democrat) was born in San Francisco, California, June 12,
1860; educated in the public schools of San Francisco; after leaving school, he
entered the mechanic profession; serving an apprenticeship to the machinist
trade, and subsequently worked at his profession in the principal manufacturing
establishments of San Francisco; elected Member of Congress from the Fifth
District, November 4, 1902.
JAMES CARRON NEEDHAM
(Republican) was born September 17,1864, in Carson City, Nevada; in an emigrant
wagon, his parents being, at the time, en route across the plains to
California; educated in the public schools of California; graduated from the
San Jose High School and the University of the Pacific in Santa Clara County;
graduated from the law department of the University of Michigan in 1889; began
the practice of law in Modesto in 1889; elected Member of Congress from the
Seventh District in 1898; re-elected 1900; elected Member of Congress from the
Sixth District, November 4, 1902.
JAMES McLACHLAN (Republican) was born in Argyllshire,
Scotland August 1852; removed to Tompkins County, New York in 1855; educated in
the public schools of New York; graduated from Hamilton College, New York, in
1878; elected School Commissioner of Tompkins County in 1877; admitted to
practice law in New York in 1880; came to California in 1888 and settled in
Pasadena; elected District Attorney of Los Angeles County in 1890; elected
Member of Congress from the Sixth District in 1894; elected Member of Congress
from the Seventh District in 1900; re-elected in November 4, 1902.
MILTON J. DANIELS
(Republican) was born at Cobleskill, Schoharie County, New York, April 18, 1838;
removed to Bradford County, Pennsylvania when a boy and in 1856 moved to
Rochester, Minnesota; served in the United States Volunteer Service April
1861-1866; in 1882 was elected to the Minnesota Legislature and served eight
years - four in the House and four in the Senate; was President of Minnesota
State Board of Asylums for the Insane, six years; removed to California in 1889
and located at Riverside; elected Member of Congress from the Eighth District,

Senator from the First District in 1900.
CLIFFORD COGGINS
(Republican) was born at La Moine, Hancock County,
Maine, January 20, 1853; educated in the common schools of Maine; came to
California in 1871; appointed Trustee of the State Normal School at Chico, May
6, 1899, for a term of one year; reappointed March 26, 1901; elected State
Senator from the Second District, November 4, 1902.
JOHN R. TYRRELL
(Republican) was born in England in 1868; came to California; in 1869, educated
in common schools of California; elected Police Judge of Grass Valley in 1894;
admitted to practice law in 1897; elected State Senator from the Third District
in 1900.
JOHN BUNYAN SANFORD
(Democrat) was born at Shelbyville, Tennessee, May 17, 1869; came to California
in 1882, locating at Ukiah, Mendocino County; educated in the public schools of
Mendocino County and at the State Normal School at San Jose; taught school for
eight years; served as member of the Board of Education of Mendocino County for
several terms; elected Member of Assembly in 1894; re-elected in 1896 and in
1898; proprietor and editor of the Ukiah Dispatch-Democrat; elected State
Senator from the Fourth District, November 4, 1902.
WILLIAM BRANSON
LARDNER (Republican) was born at Niles, Michigan, December 12, 1850; educated
in the district schools of Michigan; Cornell College, Iowa, and the law
department of the Iowa State University; graduating in 1877; came to California
in 1872; taught school in Placer County; admitted to practice law in
California; elected District Attorney of Placer County in 1880; elected Member
of the Assembly from Placer County in 1898; elected State Senator from the
Fifth District in 1900.
MARSHALL DIGGS
(Democrat) was born in Montgomery County, Missouri, December 23, 1853; educated
in the public schools of his native county; came to California in 1874; elected
City Trustee of Woodland, Yolo County, and was elected Mayor of Woodland by the
Board of Trustees, being its first Mayor; served as member of the Board of
Education of Woodland; elected State Senator from the Sixth District November
4, 1902.
ROBERT CORLETT
(Republican) was born at Ramsay, Isle of Man, December 31, 1858; educated in
national schools of England; removed to Chicago, Illinois in 1873; came to
California in 1876 and located at Napa; elected State Senator from the Seventh
District in 1900.

(Republican) was born at Dubuque, Iowa, January 1, 1852; came to California in
1854; locating at Oroville; received a common school education; has resided in
Sacramento,

Treasurer of Santa Rosa, two terms; Mayor of Santa Rosa, two terms; Treasurer

JOHN JACOB LUCHSINGER
(Republican) was born at Galena, Illinois, September 8, 1848; came to
California in 1861; received a high school education in San Francisco; removed
to Vallejo in 1890; Chairman of the Republican County Central Committee of
Solano County in 1895; elected State Senator from the Ninth District in 1896;
re-elected 1900; appointed Postmaster of Vallejo, March 19, 1903.
WILLIAM CHAPMAN
RALSTON (Republican) was born at San Francisco, California, April 25, 1863;
educated in the public schools of San Francisco and later took a special course
in mining and engineering at the University of California; graduating in 1887; was
Appraiser for the Port of San Francisco; President of California Miners'
Association; elected to the Assembly from Calaveras County in 1900; Speaker Pro
Tem of the thirty-fourth session; appointed Trustee of State Mining Bureau,
March 15, 1902; elected State Senator from Tenth District, November 4, 1902.

BELSHAW. - (Republican) was born at Fiddletown, Amador County, California March
11, 1861; educated in the public schools of San Francisco, where he removed in
1865; in 1883, went to Antioch, Contra Costa County; elected Member of Assembly
from Contra Costa County in 1894; re-elected in 1896 and in 1898; elected State
Senator from the Eleventh District in 1900.
JOHN BARRY CURTIN
(Democrat) was born at Gold Springs, Tuolumne County, California, May 15, 1867; educated in the schools of Tuolumne County;
admitted to practice law in California; elected District Attorney of Tuolumne
County in 1892; elected State Senator from the Twelfth District in 1898;
re-elected November 4, 1902.
ROBERT T. DEVLIN
(Republican) was born at Sacramento, California, June 13, 1859; educated in
public schools of Sacramento; admitted to practice of law in California;
appointed member of the State Board of Prison Directors in 1884, and has since
held the office; his present term expires January 12, 1912; elected State
Senator from the Thirteenth District in 1900.

KNOWLAND. - (Republican) was born at Alameda, California August 5, 1873;
educated in the public and private schools of Alameda County and also the
University of the Pacific; elected Member of the Assembly from Alameda County
in 1898; re-elected in 1900; elected State Senator from the Fourteenth
District, Nov. 4, 1902.
AUGUST EDWARD MUENTER. - (Republican) was
born at San Francisco, California December 17, 1866; educated in the common
schools of San Francisco and also graduated from the Law Department of the
University of Michigan; admitted to practice law in California in 1888; elected
to the Assembly from San Joaquin County in 1898; elected State Senator from the
Fifteenth District in 1900.

(Republican) was born at Indianapolis, Indiana March 24, 1866; removed to
Salem, Oregon in 1869; educated in the common schools of Oregon; came to
California in 1881, locating in Oakland; engaged in the newspaper business;
elected to the Assembly from Alameda County in 1896; elected State Senator from
the Twenty-sixth District in 1898; served as a member of the Board of Trustees
of the State Normal School at San Jose from 1899 to June 19, 1903; appointed
member of the Board of Directors of the Deaf, Dumb, & Blind Asylum in
1900; reappointed in 1901; re-elected State Senator from the Sixteenth
District November 4, 1902.
JOSEPH M. PLUNKETT. -
(Democrat) was born at San Francisco in 1869; educated in the public schools of
that city; elected State Senator from the Seventeenth District in 1900.
HARRY BUNKERS. - (Union Labor and Democrat) was born
at Dubuque, Iowa, June 30, 1874; educated in the common schools of that city;
came to California in 1884 and settled in Santa Monica and Los Angeles,
afterward removing to San Francisco; elected State Senator from the Eighteenth
District November 4, 1902.

(Republican) was born in New York, February 13, 1869; educated in the
public schools of that State; came to California when a young man; elected
State Senator from the Nineteenth District in 1900.
FRANK FRENCH. -
(Republican) was born at Bangor, Maine April 11, 1848; educated in the common
schools of that State; came to California in 1867; elected Member of the
Assembly from San Francisco in 1884; elected State Senator from the Twentieth
District November 4, 1902.
EDWARD I. WOLFE. -
(Republican) was born at Hull, England, March 15, 1860; came to California in
1874 and located in San Francisco; educated in the public schools of that city;
admitted to practice law in California; elected State Senator from the
Twenty-first District in 1896; re-elected in 1900.
HAMILTON AVERY BAUER. - (Republican) was
born at San Francisco, California, November 25, 1877; educated in the public
schools of San Francisco; afterward graduating from Stanford University;
admitted to practice law in California; elected Member of the Assembly from the
Fortieth District in 1900; elected State Senator from the Twenty-second
District, November 4, 1902.
JOHN G. TYRRELL. -
(Republican) was born at Ware, Massachusetts November 20, 1857; Came to

GEORGE STEWART WALKER (Republican) was born at Santa
Rosa, California September 21, 1874; educated in the public schools of Santa
Cruz and Santa Clara counties; elected City Clerk and Assessor of Los Gatos;
elected Member of Assembly from Santa Clara County in 1900; re-elected Member
of the Assembly from the Fifty-fifth District November 4, 1902.
ELI WRIGHT (Republican) was born at Leesburg, Ohio
September 2, 1870; came to California in 1876; educated at San Jose Normal
School; taught school in Calaveras County for two years; admitted to practice
law in 1897; elected Member of the Assembly from Santa Clara County in 1900;
re-elected from the Fifty-sixth District November 4, 1902.
MARSHALL BLACK, (Republican) was born at Lewis Center,
Delaware County, Ohio February 19, 1870; came to California in 1894; completed
his education at Stanford University; elected Member of Assembly from the Fifty-seventh
District, November 4, 1902.
WILLIAM JOSEPH DOUGHERTY (Democrat) was born at San
Juan, San Benito County, California August 26, 1872; educated at the San Jose
Normal School; taught school in Placer, Merced, and San Benito counties; was Deputy
Assessor of San Benito County; member of the Board of Education of San Benito
County; elected Member of Assembly from the Fifty-eighth District November 4th,
1902.
MONTAGUE BRYANT STEADMAN (Republican) was born at
Auckland, New Zealand, September 4, 1868; educated in the public schools and by
private tuition; came to California in 1889; elected Member of Assembly from
the Fifty-ninth District November 4, 1902.
J. O. TRABER (Republican) was born in Little Lake
Valley, Mendocino County, California July 19, 1872; removed to Fresno County in
1874; educated in the University of Michigan; admitted to practice law in
California in 1897; elected Member of Assembly from the Sixtieth District

WARREN M. JOHN (Republican) born in Allen County,
Kansas November 27, 1874; came to California in 1887; educated in the public
schools of San Luis Obispo County; engaged in the newspaper business; elected
Member of Assembly from San Luis Obispo Co. in 1900; appointed a member of the
Board of Trustees of the California Polytechnic School in 1902; elected Member of
Assembly from the Sixty-third District November 4, 1902.
ELBERT MADISON PYLE (Republican) was born at Butler,
Bates County, Missouri November 26, 1846; came to California in 1883, locating
in Santa Barbara County; was a member of the Santa Barbara Board of Education
for four years; elected Member of Assembly from the Sixty-fourth District,
November 4, 1902.
CHRISTIAN PETER PANN, (Republican) was born at Oxford,
Butler County, Ohio, May 26, 1868; educated at Miama
University of Ohio; came to California in 1890; admitted to practice law;

JESSE RICHARD DORSEY, (Republican) was born at Argentville, Lincoln County, Missouri, September
2, 1877; came to California in 1888, locating in Kern County; admitted to

1899; elected Member of the Assembly from the Sixty-sixth District, November

Jamestown, North Dakota in 1884; member of the Constitutional Convention of North
Dakota in 1889; Reporter of Supreme Court of North Dakota in 1890; United
States District Attorney for North Dakota 1891-1894; came to California in

FRANK WILE BARNES (Republican) was born at Pleasant
Valley, Dutchess County, New York, September 11,
1850; removed to Nebraska at the age of sixteen; served as County Surveyor,
Police Justice, County Judge and Mayor in Nebraska; came to California in 1890,
locating in San Diego; elected member of the City Council; serving as President
of the Board; elected Member of the Assembly from the Seventy-ninth District in
1900; re-elected on November 4, 1902.
JOHN G. BURGESS (Republican) was born at Oswego, New
York, November 13, 1865; educated in the schools of New York; came to
California in 1887; locating in San Diego County; Postmaster of El Cajon for
the past five years; elected Member of Assembly from the Eightieth District
