MARK H. WOOD

MARK H. WOOD.--Proprietor of the Todd Auto Supply Company, in Chico, Mark H. Wood was born in Kearney, Buffalo County, Nebr., and came to California, in 1902, with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank A. Wood.  After completing the grammar schools in Chico, he entered Heald's Business College, and graduated from that institution in 1913.  He then went to Oakland, and later to Los Angeles, where he was employed as an automobile salesman, at the same time learning automobile repairing.  In 1916 he returned to Chico and established his present business.  At first associated with Mr. Todd, he opened the business under Mr. Todd's name, occupying a concrete building erected by Mr. Todd, on Nord Avenue, near First Street.  Here he does all kinds of automobile repairing, having a machine shop for that purpose, operated by electric power; he has a vulcanizing plant; does rebuilding and recharging of batteries, in fact, everything which comes under the head of automobile repair work.  He also carries a full line of supplies and accessories and is representative for the Goodyear tire, and has the agency for Butte County for the Aero cushion tire, a substitute for air, the demand for them constantly growing as they are proven a valuable asset for owners of cars.  Besides these lines, Mr. Wood is agent for the Oldsmobile car for Butte County.  In November, 1917, he purchased Mr. Todd's interest in the business and is now sole proprietor.  Full of energy, and up to date in all his work, he is meeting with splendid success.

The marriage of Mr. Wood, which occurred in Chico, united him with Miss Edith Todd, who was born in New York and is the daughter of W. B. Todd, who is also represented in this work.
