ALLEN T. TROXEL
ALLEN T. TROXEL.—As
might be expected of one who has spent his entire life in the Golden
State, Allen T. Troxel
is a loyal son and champions all measures looking towards the development of
the commonwealth. A son of the late Josiah and Eve Ann (Coon) Troxel, he was born on October 1, 1870, on the ranch in the
vicinity of Dayton, where he still
makes his home. He obtained his education in the public schools of Dayton
Precinct, and at Heald’s Business
College in San Francisco,
graduating from the last named institution in 1898. It was about this
period that the Spanish-American War broke out and, following in the footsteps
of his ancestors, he enlisted for service in Company A., Eighth Regiment of
California Volunteers. After he had served his term of enlistment and was
mustered out he returned to the home ranch and took up work with his father and
at the death of the latter continued to farm the home place, of which he is now
the owner. He raises fine crops of wheat and barley, as well as some
stock, and he has five acres of twenty-year-old prune trees and twenty-two
acres of almonds, all of which add to his yearly income.
Mr. Troxel has never married, but lives at the old homestead
with his sister. He is popular wherever he is known and, like his father,
is a liberal supporter of all movements that tend toward helping to advance the
interests of the county and the citizens living therein. He
believes in progress and also in the preservation of the history of the past in
which the advance guard of civilization played so important a part in the
history of California, the
"land of opportunity."
