FRANK EDWARD LYNCH

A native son of Butte County, Frank Edward Lynch was born at Pentz, November 28, 1868, the eldest of six children born to Christopher and Mary ( Meline) Glick Lynch, natives of Ireland and Illinois, respectively. The father, when a mere boy, went to sea, and arriving in San Francisco in the early days of the gold rush, left the ship and made his way to the mines. However, he soon saw a greater future for farming and stock- raising then for mining the elusive gold: and so he engaged in stock-raising at Pentz and later on he bought a ranch at Cherokee, Where he resided until his death. The mother of our subject crossed the plains with her Parents in 1854, coming through safely in an ox-team train. She died in Cherokee. Frank Edward Lynch was reared on the old Lynch ranch at Cherokee, receiving a good education in the public schools. He followed farming and stock- raising with his father until the latter’s death, and then began mining, working for the Cherokee Mining Company, and afterwards for their Successors, the Vinton’s. In 1912, however, he quit mining and entered the employ of the Oroville Electric Corporation, now the Pacific Gas and Electric Company, as ditch tender and has continued in the same capacity ever since. He now has charge of seven miles of ditch for the Company, making his residence and headquarters on the Parrish place. Frank Edward Lynch and Lydia Esman were married in Chico. Mrs. Lynch was born at Pentz and is the daughter of Thomas and Mary A. (Delong) Esmen , Pioneers of Butte County. Mr. and Mrs. Lynch have two children, Lester and Alvin, both in the employ of the Pacific Gas and Electric Company. Fraternally Mr. Lynch is a member of Cherokee Lodge, No. 92, I.O.O.F., of which he is Past Grand, and with his Wife, is a member of Rebekah Degree Lodge, No. 18, at Cherokee, of which Mrs. Lynch is Past Noble Grand.
