JOHN H. KEITLE

JOHN H. KEITLE.--A highly esteemed rancher, who is making a success of his two hundred sixty-one fertile acres, located about a mile and one half west of Honcut, is John H. Keitle.  He is the youngest child of highly respected pioneer parents, John and Annie (Howard) Keitle.  He was born in the Honcut Precinct on September 3, 1880.  His father, John Keitle, was born in Germany, but was among the pioneer settlers of the Golden State; after crossing the plains in an ox team train he engaged in farming and became owner of a good farm.  John Keitle was united in marriage with Annie Howard, a native of Ireland, and the union was blessed with six children:  William, who resides at Fairview, Ore.; Orenia, the wife of George Farnan, a farmer near Palermo; Annie, wife of Thomas Stresser, the blacksmith at Honcut; Lillie and Nellie, both deceased; and the subject of this sketch, John H., the youngest.  The father passed away at the age of sixty-five, on January 1, 1908, and the mother died the same year, in the month of May.  Our subject was reared on the home farm and educated in the public schools in Honcut; he assisted his father till he died, since which time he has owned the place.

John H. Keitle is very industrious and possesses excellent business judgment which is manifested by his intelligent management of his splendid ranch, where he raises hay, grain and stock.  The soil of his ranch is very fertile, as are all the lands on Honcut Creek, and responds nicely to his industrious cultivation.  He is a man of high moral character, unquestioned integrity of purpose, has a host of friends and is greatly esteemed by all in his community.
