FRANK HEBERLIE

One of Weed’s chief business concerns is the Heberlie Laundry, owned and operated by Frank Heberlie, who has back of him many yeas of practical experience in every branch of the laundry business, with the result that he has been able to render a quality of service which has brought him the patronage of the best people of the community.  Mr. Heberlie was born in the southeastern part of Missouri on the 10th of October, 1871, and is a son of Nicholas and Sarah (Bloom) Heberlie.  His father, who was a farmer by occupation, died in Missouri, and subsequently the mother came to California, residing in Chico to the time of her death, in 1914.

Frank Heberlie received his education in the public schools of his native state and in 1892 established his home in Chico, California.  He had learned the carpenter trade in his youth and followed that line of work at Chico for some time.  He then went to work in the old Chico Laundry, with which he remained two years, and from there went to Ashland, Oregon, where he engaged in the laundry business on his own account.  He was successful and conducted the business to the time he came to Weed.  Here he established a strictly modern laundry, installing the very latest machinery and appliances, and he owns the building.  He employs eight-teen persons, and is insistent that nothing but the very best of work shall be turned out.  He does all kinds of wet laundry work, and also gives much attention to dry cleaning, for which there is a constantly increasing demand on the part of the public, as well as carpet repairing and cleaning.

Mr. Heberlie was married to Miss Jane Cheseborough, who died in 1906, leaving a son, Bernard, who married Miss Nomilee Norman, and is now in business with his father.  For his second wife Mr. Heberlie chose Miss Katherine Johnson, a native of Oregon, and they are the parents of two children, Evelyn and Elinor, both of whom are in school.  Mr. Heberlie is a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows at Ashland, Oregon, and his favorite sport is golf.  Fair dealing and prompt and efficient service have been the secrets of his success and Mr. Heberlie has in both business and private life so ordered his affairs as to win and retain the genuine respect and confidence of the people among whom he lives.
