JOHN J. DANERI
John
J. Daneri conducting an undertaking business at Sutter Creek and Jackson,
Amador County, has had many years of experience in this exacting calling and
commands his full share of the local business in his line. Born at Sutter Creek, on the 18th
of December, 1881, he is a son of James and Katherine (Lagomarsino)
Daneri, both representatives of sturdy old Italian stock.
The father came to California in the ‘70s and engaged in mining, which
he was following when he met his death.
His wife came to this locality in young girlhood and they were married
in Amador County. The mother lived to
the age of seventy-one years. They had
three sons and three daughters, all of whom are living.
John
J. Daneri attended the public schools of Sutter Creek and as soon as old enough
went to work at the mines, being at first employed above ground. Later he worked for Mr. Roberts, who was the
first funeral director and embalmer in Amador County. He was with that gentleman for six years, in
which time he gained much practical experience, and in 1903, he bought out Mr.
Roberts and has since conducted the business.
When his son James F. was granted his license as an undertaker and
embalmer he became a partner in the business.
Mr. Daneri now maintains two mortuary establishments, have recently also
opened funeral parlors at Jackson, modern in every respect, including a chapel,
show room, motor equipment and other essential features of an up-to-date
undertaking establishment. Mr. Daneri
and his son keep abreast of the times in matters pertaining to their calling,
are tactful and considerate in conducting the last offices of the dead and have
earned the appreciation of those who have employed them. The father has spent twenty-seven years in
this work and is recognized as an expert.
Mr.
Daneri was united in marriage to Miss Ethel McPherson, of San Francisco, and
they are the parents of two children, Mary C., who is a school teacher, and
James F., who is associated with his father in business. Mr. Daneri is a Democrat in his political
views and is now serving his third term as coroner of Amador County. He is a member of the Free and Accepted
Masons, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, in which he has passed through
the chairs, the Native Sons of the Golden West and the Italian Benevolent Association. Trout fishing is his favorite form of outdoor
sport and he knows intimately all of the worthwhile fishing spots in this
section of the country. A man of
sterling worth and straightforward manner, he easily makes friends and is very
highly esteemed throughout Amador County.
