Biographies
CHARLES A. WINSLOW
Charles A. Winslow, president of Winslow Engineering Company and Winslow Engineering, Inc., was born in San Francisco, California, April 10, 1890; the son of Christopher James and Nora M. (McSweeney) Winslow. He received his education in the public schools of Vallejo and San Francisco, California and through International Correspondence Schools.
Mr. Winslow worked as apprentice mechanic for the United States Navy Department, Mare Island, California, 1906 to 1912; as an operating engineer for City of Vallejo, California; port engineer, yard craft at Navy Yard, Mare Vallejo, California, 1921 to 1925; consulting and designing automotive engineer, 1925 to 1932; vice president and general manage of Standard Gas Engine Company and American Diesel Engine Company, 1932 to 1937; president of Winslow Engineering Company of Oakland, California, since 1938; president of Winslow Engineering, Inc., Murray, Kentucky since 1951. Registered Professional Mechanical Engineer—4550; inventor and patentee of many important improvements in automotive engineering.
Mr. Winslow is a contributor of many papers on engines, lubricating systems and the filtering of fuel and lube oil to Society of Automotive Engineers. The American Society of Lubricating Engineers and others.
Member of Society of Automotive Engineers—past chairman, Northern California Section; American Society of Lubrications Engineers; member California State Chamber of Commerce (chairman of Small Boat Harbors Committee); Oakland Chamber of Commerce (member Waterfront Development Committee); statewide president, California Marine Parks and Harbors Association; Chairman, Board of Directors, Angel Island Foundation. 32nd degree Mason; member A.A.O.N.M.S. of Oakland, California; past director, Royal Order of Jesters; past president, Scimitar Club; past commodore Oakland Yacht Club; member Odd Fellows and Elks.
Mr. Winslow married Catherine B. Kern August 3, 1912, and they have two daughters Catherine A and Charlotte A.
