Alameda County
Biographies
John A.
Wall.—While the subject of this notice has not the distinction of being a
pioneer of the Golden State, he has the next best honor, that of being a
native. He was born in Alameda county,
October 7, 1860, his parents having emigrated here during the early days of the
settlement of the Pacific coast; the father was a farmer by occupation, and he
also gave considerable attention to the raising of live-stock.
Young wall
attended the common schools of Oakland during his boyhood, and when he was
older he went to the State of Michigan and entered the Battle Creek College,
where he completed his literary studies.
On his return to
California he entered the law office of Nye & Richardson, of Oakland, with
whom he remained about one year, and then went into the office of Charles and
Ben Darwin in San Francisco, where he finished his studies in one year and a
half, and was admitted to the bar in 1885,---since which time he has been
engaged in the practice of his profession and has offices at 325 Montgomery
street, San Francisco.
In 1885 he
married Miss Alice M. M. Winter of Cloverdale, California.
