Biographies
HARRY ALBERT THORNTON
Harry Albert Thornton, attorney, was born April
28, 1887, in Crookston, Minnesota. The son of Albert Warren
and Grace Irene (Pierce) Thornton.
From
1905 to 1908, Mr. Thornton was a student at the University of Washington, then
entered the University of California, from which he received the degree of B.L.
in 1909 and the degree of LL.B. in 1911.
Mr.
Thornton was admitted to the California State Bar in 1911 and began law
practice in San Francisco, where he now practices (individually). Thornton
& Taylor.
In
1917 he entered the service and was commissioned ensign, United States Naval
Reserve Force; attended Naval Reserve Officers’ Training Class at the United
States Naval Academy, then served on the United States ship New Mexico as
lieutenant (junior grade); U.S.N. United States Naval Ordnance Officer, Naval
Base, San Pedro, California; officer in charge of radio and signal detail, Goat
Island, San Francisco, 1917-19; appointed, by Secretary of War, as a member of
the Advisory Board, San Francisco Engineer Procurement District.
Mr.
Thornton holds membership in the Theta Delta Chi Fraternity; the Bohemian Club,
Claremont Country Club and Stock Exchange Club.
He
is the author of two volumes of poems. His favorite recreation is golf.
On
December 6, 1916, he married May L. Nicholson. Their home is at 99 Lafayette
Avenue, Piedmont, California.
