WILLIAM MOHR
A prominent young ranchman of Alameda county is William Mohr, who was born upon the property where he now makes his home, near Mt. Eden, October 2, 1871. He was the youngest son of Cornelius Mohr, whose sketch will be found in that of his older son, Henry P. Mohr, which appears on another page of this work. Through the death of his father, which occurred when he was still a child, he inherited a large estate while he was still in the grammar schools. In the division of the property the old homestead of two hundred and eighty acres where he had spent his boyhood years, passed into his possession, while he also owns a half-interest in a two hundred and thirty acre stock ranch, which is leased. The home ranch is all under cultivation and finely improved, a fine dwelling, ample barns, and outbuildings, well-laid-out lawns and fields, adding to the value of the estate, which is held at $500 per acre. A part of the land is leased to vegetable gardeners, while the remainder is devoted to the cultivation of grain, to which work Mr. Mohr gives his personal attention. He also breeds Holstein cattle and has met with a gratifying success in his efforts.
In his political views Mr. Mohr is a broad minded, earnest citizen and reserves the right to cast his ballot for that candidate whom he considers best qualified for public office. He is universally esteemed for the sterling qualities which distinguish his character.
