Biographies
WILLIAM DeLOSS LOVE
William DeLoss Love, manufacturer, was born in Putnam, Connecticut,
on July 20, 1888; the son of the Reverend Archibald L., D.D., and Hattie
(Houghton) Love.
Graduated from Hamilton College in
1909 with the degree of A.B.
Mr. Love was a member of the sales
department of Houghton Mifflin Company, of Boston, Massachusetts, from 1909 to
1922; secretary and sales manager for the National Nut Company at Oakland,
California, and New York City from 1922 to 1924, president and general manager
from 1924 to 1946 and general partner since 1946; general partner of the
Aristocrat Nut Company, Oakland, California since 1943; president of the
American Molding Equipment Company, San Francisco 1936 to 1950 and general
partner since then; general partner of American Molding Company of San
Francisco since 1944; director of W. H. Freeman & Company; and trustee of
Hamilton College.
Belongs to the Congregational Church
and is a member of Kiwanis Club, University Club of San Francisco, and Rio Del
Mar Country Club.
Mr. Love married Helen Marie Clarke
on June 1, 1920, and has three children; Pauline Clarke, now Mrs. Warren Halsey
Dunning II of Indianapolis, William DeLoss, Jr., and
Sylvia Houghton, now Mrs. William Carroll McCormack of Rochester, N.Y. He has
two grandchildren.
