GARDINER
JOHNSON
Gardiner
Johnson, attorney, was born in San Jose, California, on August 10, 1905; the
son of George W. and Izora (Carter) Johnson.
After graduating from Berkeley
(California) High School in 1922 he entered the University of California from
which he received an A.B. degree in 1926. His legal education was obtained at
the University of California School of Jurisprudence (Boalt
Hall) where he received his J.D. degree in 1928 and was admitted to the
California State Bar, at San Francisco, on October 4, 1928.
Mr. Johnson has been in general
practice of the law in San Francisco, California, since his admittance to the
bar in 1928. From 1935 to 1947 he served as a member of the California
Legislature, representing the Eighteenth Assembly District (Berkeley); speaker
pro tem of the Assembly in 1940; Republican in politics, and was a member of
the National Drafting Committee of the Council of State Governments from 1944
to 1947.
Member of Bar Association of San
Francisco, American Bar Association, Commonwealth Club; Kappa Delta Rho, Phi
Delta Phi and Phi Beta Kappa fraternities.
Mr. Johnson married Doris Louise
Miller on September 27, 1935, at Del Monte, California. They have two children,
Jacqueline Ann, born July 6, 1941, and Stephen Miller, born July 1, 1943. The
family home is at 329 Hampton Road, Piedmont, California.
