GERALD H. HAGAR

 

 

Gerald H Hagar, attorney, is the son of George C. and Julia (Hanna) Hagar. He was born June 18, 1892, in Los Angeles, California.

            After graduating from high school he attended the University of Michigan, from which he graduated in 1914 with the degree of A.B. Then, he studied law at the University of California, receiving his J.D. degree; admitted to the State Bar of California in February 1920.

            Mr. Hagar began his legal career in association with Parker S. Maddux in San Francisco, California; member of the firm of Calkins, Hagar, Hall & Linforth from 1922 to 1939, with offices in San Francisco and Oakland, California. From 1939 to 1950 he was a member of the firm Hagar, Crosby & Crosby, and since then has been a member of the firm of Hagar, Crosby, Crosby & Vendt, with offices in Oakland, California.

            Member of the State Bar of California (member of the Board of Governors 1936-37, and re-elected for term 1937-40; president 1939-40); member of California Code commission since 1930, and chairman since 1939; Alameda County Bar Association (president 1935-36); Phi Alpha Delta Fraternity; and F. & A.M.

            Member of the Board of Regents of the University of California, 1951 to date. Member Board of Trustees Mills College, 1947 to date.

            During World War I, Mr. Hagar served with the United States Army, 1917-19, overseas, as second lieutenant, first lieutenant, and finally as captain in the Coast Artillery Corps.

            In 1925 Mr. Hagar married Ella Barrows and has three children: Julianne born in 1929, Mary Elizabeth born in 1931, and George Barrows born in 1934. The family home is in Berkeley, California, at 245 Stonewall Road.
