MALCOLM M. CHAMPLIN

 

 

Malcolm M. Champlin, lawyer, was born in San Francisco, California on April 13, 1911. The son of Charles C. and Maude (Fraser).

            Graduated from the United States Naval Academy (Annapolis) with the class of 1934, receiving the B.S. degree; then studied law at School of Jurisprudence, University of California, receiving his LL.B. degree in 1939; then attended United States Naval War College (Newport, Rhode Island), graduating in 1944; graduated from F.B.I., Department of Justice, Washington, D.C., and continued with them until ordered to duty with the United States Navy, 1941-1945; then again with the firm of Fitzgerald, Abbott & Beardsley. Since October 1947 he has been a partner in the firm of Stark & Champlin, Oakland, California. He is a director of the Ventura Coastal Lemon Company, Inc., and vice president and director of Ventura Processors in Ventura County, California.

            Mr. Champlin has World War II service ribbons for combat in the Philippines, Australia, the Aleutian Islands and in Pacific and Asiatic waters. In addition, he has received the Army Silver Star awarded by General Jonathon Wainwright in the Bataan campaign and the U.S. Navy’s highest decoration, the Navy Cross. He presently holds the rank of Commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve.

            Member of State Bar of California, American Bar Association, Alameda County Bar Association, American Judicature Society; Naval Academy Alumni Association; Phi Delta Phi fraternity (legal); American Legion (post commander, 1947-48; district commander, 1951); Reserve Officers’ Association; American Legion Service Club and Athenian-Nile Club (Oakland, California); Piedmont Lodge 521, F.&A.M., Oakland
 Scottish Rite Bodies, Aahmes Temple of the Shrine and Commonwealth Club of San Francisco.

            Mr. Champlin married Betty Mee of Santa Barbara, California, on December 13, 1943 at Sonoma, California. They have three children, Sarah Jane, William Bradford and Mimi Lisette. The family home is at 501 Mountain Avenue, Piedmont, California.
