ROBERT C. BURNSTEIN

 

Robert C. Burnstein, attorney, was born April 2, 1915 in Chicago, Illinois; the son of Samuel and Mildred (Friedman) Burnstein. Came to the City of Oakland when a year and a half old and has lived continuously in Oakland since that time.

            He attended Lincoln Grammar School in Oakland and then was a student at the Oakland Technical High School. His preparatory and legal education was obtained at the University of California, from which he received his A.B. degree, majoring in Philosophy, in 1936 and the LL.B. degree from the school of Jurisprudence in 1939, admitted to the California bar in San Francisco, December of 1939.

            Mr. Burnstein has been a member of the law firm of Popper and Burnstein, Oakland, since 1946. Member of the Board of Editors, California Law Review, 1938-1939; awarded the Frank M. Pixley Scholarship of Law in 1938. A member of the law firm of Burnstein and Strom from 1940 to 1942; during the second World War, Mr. Burnstein served as a lieutenant of the U. S. Navy from 1942 to 1945.

            Mr. Burnstein is the author of various legal articles devoted primarily to corporations and their structure that have been printed in legal journals and magazines.

            A member of the Oakland Junior Chamber of Commerce (Board of Directors 1942), Fraternal Order of Eagles; Loyal Order of Moose, Oakland Lodge No. 252 B’nai Brith; Alameda County Bar Association; and is a member of the Board of Directors of Boy Scouts of America, Oakland Area Council.

            Mr. Burnstein married Tobe Davis (formerly of Oakland, California) on June 20, 1937. Their home is in Oakland, California at 789 Kingston Avenue.
