JOHN McCARTNEY WARD

 

 

      A prominent place among the more successful corporation lawyers of the southern portion of California has been attained by John M. Ward, member of the firm of Ward, Ward & Ward, of San Diego, and former President of the San Diego Bar Association.

      Mr. Ward is a native of Iowa, born in 1883 at Cedar Rapids, but was brought by his parents to California while very young. His preparatory educational training was obtained in public schools of San Diego, after which he entered Stanford University, which conferred on him the A. B. degree in 1907. His legal training was obtained at Harvard University, and the law school of Stanford University, from which latter he graduated with the degree of J. D. in 1909.

      The same year Mr. Ward was admitted to the California bar and entered practice at San Diego in association with his father, Martin I. Ward, member of the firm of Ward, Wells & Ward, which has since assumed the present form of Ward, Ward & Ward.

      Mr. Ward is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of California, and San Diego Bar Association, which he served as President in 1918-1919. He is also a member of Phi Delta Phi fraternity, University Club, Cuyamaca Club, San Diego Country Club and San Diego Rowing Club. He is also a Mason and Elk. He married Jessie Smith in 1912, and they have three children, Luther Mifflin, John M. Jr. and Philip L.
