EUGENE DANEY.

 

 

Among the distinguished members of the bar of California is Eugene Daney, of San Diego. He is a native of France, and was born in 1862 at Bordeaux. When three years of age he was brought to the United States by his parents, who located at San Francisco, Calif. After receiving his early training in public schools of that city he entered the Law Department of the University of California, graduating with the LL. B. degree in 1885. He was admitted the same year to the California bar and immediately entered practice at San Francisco.

 

In 1887 Mr. Daney moved to San Diego, where he has since engaged in general civil practice, with the exception of a period of three years 1888-1891, during which he served as Assistant District Attorney of San Diego County. He is a Director of the First National Trust and Savings Bank of San Diego, and the Southern Title and Trust Company.

 

Mr. Daney was a member of the Lawyers' Institute of San Diego since merged with the Bar Association of San Diego, and served as the first President of this organization. He was the first President of the San Diego Bar Association and has since served on several occasions in that same capacity. He also served as President of the California State Bar Association in 1915 and 1916. He holds membership in the American Bar Association, State Bar of California, of which he is a member of the Board of Governors, and San Diego Bar Association. He is a Trustee of the San Diego County Law Library, of which he has served several terms as president, and a member of Phi Delta Phi fraternity, Cuyamaca Club and Chula Vista Country Club. In fraternal circles of San Diego, Mr. Daney has also been prominent for many years.
