GERALD C. THOMAS

 

Gerald C. Thomas, attorney, was born June 15, 1897, in Toronto, Canada, the son of L.J. and Ellen (Hill) Thomas.

His grammar school education was received in Toronto, Canada, Earlham, Iowa, and California. He then attended Stanford University, 1915 to 1921, graduating with the A.B. and J.D. degrees.

Mr. Thomas was admitted to the State Bar of California in September of 1921 and commenced practice in San Diego in association with the firm of Wright and McKee. This firm was later dissolved and the firm of Wright, Thomas, Dorman & Fox was formed. In 1952 the firm of Thomas, Dorman & Fox was formed, of which he is senior member.

Mr. Thomas served two terms on the Board of Directors of The San Diego Club, during which he served as vice president and executive board member; served two terms on the Board of Directors of San Diego Bar Association and as treasurer thereof. He is a member of the Board of Directors and also secretary of Miner & Co. Builders’ Market, a California corporation; acted as chairman of Division No. 2 of the Appeals Board in San Diego under the Selective Service Act during World War II.

Member of the Regional Executive Committee of Region XII of Boy Scouts of America, a member of Executive Board of the San Diego Area Council Boy Scouts of America; member of board of Directors of Cuyamaca Boy Scout Camp Association; serving his third term as president of the Community Welfare Council of San Diego; and is a member of the Board of Directors of the San Diego Community Chest; member of the San Diego Bar Association, State Bar of California, American Bar Association; and is a member of the following clubs: University Club, of San Diego, The San Diego Club, Cuyamaca and Propeller.

Mr. Thomas married Ruby M. Lorenz in 1921 and they have one son, Benjamin Gerald, born November 1, 1922.
